Use an Inter-Store Transfer to move inventory from one location to another within your company while maintaining accurate inventory levels.
Note: The destination location must exist within the same WINK database to use the Inter-Store Transfer feature.
Content:
Creating an Inter-Store Transfer
- Navigate to Inventory > Transfer Inventory > New.
- In Document Type, select In-Transit Transfer.
- In the To Store field, select the location receiving the inventory.
- In the Reference No. field, enter a reference for the transfer, such as:
- Tray number
- Patient name
- Reason for the transfer
- Original invoice number
- Search for and select the product to transfer (for example, a frame, contact lens, or accessory). If you are using WINK labels, you can also scan or type the barcode number.
- Enter the Unit Price along with any applicable taxes (this represents the price at which you are selling to the other store).
- Click Save or Print to generate the transfer document to accompany the product.
Inventory Impact
After the transfer is saved:
- The item is removed from the originating location's inventory.
- The inventory transaction is recorded with an action similar to:
- Transfer ID: XXX to [Destination Location]
- The inventory quantity decreases accordingly (for example, -1 for a single item transferred).
Receiving the Transfer
The receiving location must complete the product reception to add the transferred item to its inventory.
Until the transfer is received:
- The product remains In Transit.
- The item is not included in the receiving location's inventory.
- Selling or dispensing the product before receiving the transfer may result in inventory discrepancies.
To maintain accurate inventory counts, always receive the transferred inventory as soon as it arrives at the destination location.
