Question: We have several different types of discounts we give to our customers (Seniors Discount; Neighbourhood Promo Discounts; School Kids Discounts, etc.) We want to record the types of discounts we are giving and be able to report on how much we issued in the various discounts over a time period. Can we do this in WINK?
Answer: Yes ... you certainly can create your own types of "discounts" and report on them. Here's how:
Creating Discounts:
From the Dashboard, select Company >> Additional Products >> Discounts
- create a name for your discount (ie. "Neighbour Promo")
- if there is a specific value attached to this discount, enter that value in the Unit Price on the Retail Price tab. Otherwise, leave the Retail Price at $0.00 and click on the green checkmark.
Whenever you use this discount in an invoice, enter the amount of the discount in the Unit Price field as a positive value. WINK will automatically treat it as a negative value in order to discount the invoice by the amount specified.
Reporting on Discounts:
Of course, all discounts are shown on the Sales Reports, however you can also produce reports of any particular discounts issued over a date range. For example, to report on all the "Neighbour Promo" discounts issued in the month of May:
1. Reports >> Patients >> Sales >> Sales of a Particular Product
- choose the date range (May 1 to May 30).
- Type "Neighbour Promo" in the Product field, adding this product to the box directly below (add several products to this box if desired).
- complete the rest of the report filters as you desire
- "Generate" your report
