Question: When I'm sitting at my computer, the date appears as "mm/dd/yy" format (ie. "9/26/17"). When I'm sitting at another computer, the date looks like "dd/mm/yy" format ("26/9/17"). Why am I seeing different date formats? This can be confusing.
Answer: There are several different formats that can be used to display the date in WINK, depending on the continent and/or country where you live. In North America, we tend to choose one of two formats:
English: Canadian ("dd/mm/yy")
English: United States ("mm/dd/yy")
There are also three options to set the length of the date display:
Short: "9/26/17"
Medium: "Sept. 26, 2017
Long: "September 26, 2017'
Keep in mind that the length you choose is the format that WINK will display all dates and is also the format that the User will need to type when entering dates manually. This is the reason most Users choose a "Short" format, to minimize the keystrokes when entering a date manually.
Both of the above display features are set by the User who is logged into WINK on any computer. During On-Boarding 1 (OB1), the WINK Trainer will discuss the benefits of setting up separate Login ID's and Passwords for each staff member and will assist you in that setup, if it is determined to do so. For example, two staff members may be set up to login as the following Users:
Login ID = John; Password = 1234
Login ID = Mary; Password = 5678
The first time John logs into WINK, he clicks on the date displayed at the top of his WINK Dashboard. The window that displays offers both display features, the format and the length. He chooses "English Canadian" format and the "Short" display. WINK remembers that the User "John" likes this particular date display format. Wherever John logs into WINK, the date format will display as "dd/mm/yy" format.
When Mary logged into WINK for the first time, she chose English United States along with the Medium length. Wherever Mary logs into WINK, her dates will show up in "Sept. 26, 2017" format.
If you are seeing different date formats, it's because you are sitting at a computer where WINK has been opened under another User's ID. To eliminate confusion, your office may set a standard that ALL Users choose the same Date Display formats, or you may change the login to your own User ID at whatever computer you are using.
